Mark Wahlberg and his agents at WME have spun hard into damage control mode today, announcing that the actor—who was recently blasted in the public sphere for negotiating a $1.5 million reshoot fee on Ridley Scott’s All The Money In The World, while his co-star, Michelle Williams, was paid only a few thousand dollars for the same rushed work—will be giving the entire paycheck to Time’s Up, as a donation in Williams’ name. This is per The Hollywood Reporter, which quotes a statement from Wahlberg: “Over the last few days my reshoot fee for All The Money In The World has become an important topic of conversation. I 100 percent support the fight for fair pay and I’m donating the $1.5M to the Time’s Up Legal Defense Fund in Michelle Williams’ name.”

Critics were quick to bash Wahlberg after a USA Today piece revealed the pay disparity between himself and Williams, which only worsened when anonymous sources reported that he’d leveraged his contractual ability to approve or veto co-stars’ casting to finagle a bigger paycheck, by threatening to refuse to authorize Christopher Plummer’s replacement of Kevin Spacey. All of this was only exacerbated by the fact that Williams and Wahlberg are both represented by WME—albeit by different agents—with the agency apparently a whole lot better at pushing Wahlberg’s interests as a “blockbuster movie star” than Williams’ as merely a highly respected, Oscar-nominated actress. (Meanwhile, the agency is also making its own “please stop yelling at us” donation to Time’s Up today, to the tune of $500,000.)
